IES lluis Simarro is located at Xàtiva, a medium-sized city in the interior of Valencia. The school was first open in 1988 as a secondary High School for students intending to follow studies the university. In 1994, the teachers started taking courses in preparation for the upcoming major change in the spanish educational system. The transition was completed in 2003 when all courses of mandatory secondary school were opened and the offering of courses was complete. In 2009 the school moved to a new building as a part of a reorganization in Xàtiva Highschool offering. Several vocational training degrees joined the school taking advance of better facilities, new equipment, larger rooms and a modern functional building. The school, then became the largest in city receiving students from surrounding towns with a dedicated bus service.
Nowadays, the schools has all the compulsory secondary courses, three disciplines in higher secondary levels (humanities, social science and scientific), two programs to prevent school drop-out and mid and high vocational training degrees from three families: "Building and public works", "computer programming and administration" and "management and accounting".
